Dear God

I feel like talking to You this way this time. Just for fun, because I feel like it =D Thanks for bringing new people into my life, the OCF-ers (!!!!!), Subi-ers, uni peeps, even Bob Barton from 60 Vahland Ave., and very recently, the Christian Union guys. I don't know where this is going, You leading me to meet all these guys, but I don't doubt You, God. Do what You will. Over the course of the past 9 months, You've opened my eyes to new things, put me in weird situations, not to mention sometimes weird to the MAX. But hey, I'm loving this new phase of my life. I'm trying my best to get used to the new first number of my age, the culture here, the food (the veges here are so different, sometimes don't know how to cook =s), taking public transport, having no car, having to depend so much on other people other than my parents, being independent, the Aussie accent (-.-") etc. The best part of it is that I'm learning so much from it, learning more about myself, learning how to step out, speak out and actually learning more about You. Pastor Ronnie and Aunty Marilyn and the Jewish pastor that spoke to our church last week have been...... whoa. But You've been so awesome. I wanna see more of You, wanna hear from You too. I read in Ephesians today on the train, that 'by grace', You gave Paul the authority to preach Your word. I find it cool how it's You who pick us first, how You loved us first. Sometimes we don't see it, sometimes we even forget, but thanks for Your grace and love that You so freely give. Teach us to love You with a whole heart, to want to serve You with no other underlying motive, to live the life You called us to have, and to love others the way You see them. I have a Chemistry pre-prac to get done before tomorrow morning, and before I continue doing it, I ask that You help me do well in my studies here, to glorify You in it, to WAKE UP FOR MY 9AM CLASSES =( Thanks for the great day I've had, thanks for being in it. Oh oh, and I commit the CU Public Meet next Tuesday into Your hands. Only You know how excited I am about it! =DD

In Jesus' mighty name, Amen!

Romans 8:10-11

10But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you.

Sometimes it just takes for us to TRY.
What makes it hard is that it's so easy not to try.

15 minutes

Its so easy to go to church, to go to prayer meet, to go to a spiritual event because you're.. a Christian? So you should be going to these things? And at the back of your head, you're thinking that if you don't attend these things and not take part, God is going to ask you "So did you go to church when you were alive?", "Did you go for prayer meetings and pray for those around you who are in more need than you are?", "Did you do something with the spiritual gifts I gave you?". At least that was what was in my head for the longest time. Until 15 minutes before I left for prayer meet.

I was listening to a lecture online to pass the time while waiting for Sheryl to pick me up when suddenly it dawned on me. Why do I go for these meetings anyway? A few weeks ago, even with a major climate project to hand in the next day, I still went. And another time, I had a 2000 word essay I hadn't started on, I still went. Did it make me feel any holier? More, superior than those who don't know Christ? Shamefully, I say yes. Sigh. At that point, I felt so silly for going to prayer meet. Like it would have been less silly to see a donkey walk into the Lim's place instead of me (we have our prayer meetings at the Lim's house).

So easy to make the whole Christianity thing a routine. Well, no. It shouldn't be. I realised that I cannot be going because I 'should' or I 'have to' but because I should. And I have to, out of genuine necessity to pray for others. Sheryl picked me up, and we made our way over. Usually we'd start with some songs then split into groups and pray. But today, Bernie announced we would start by praying, and then songs. Right there and then, I knew I didn't just think up all these things. Wooh I felt a huge grin spread across my face. Yes! Screw routine! =D (Don't get me wrong, routine is still good.. to some degree).

So yes. You think you have 15 minutes to spare? You never know. God could use that time to knock some sense into you.
