Aowa
I was out at Parkson today with my sister and Ninyang. We got off the escalator to the top floor of the new wing. Usually I would turn left to avoid those superrrr annoying promoters at Aowa. Don't know why today I kinda forgot, and turned left, right into their territory. They practically ambushed me, shoving a free wireless doorbell in my face. Stupidly, I took it. HUGE mistake I know.
Eventually, they managed to pull me into their pameran and said it would only take 5 minutes. Being me, finding it difficult to tolak these kinda things, I just went with it. Look see look see, waa ok your induction cooker so cool, ya my hand doesn't burn off when I touch the surface oohh. They sat me down to ask me for feedback, filled in some form, then they brought us over to the couch to promote even more. Apa la them, I sat there for a good 20 minutes.. 5 minutes my foot. Lol. But it was ok though, I had fun talking to them eventhough I had no interest in what they were promoting. Turned out the two promoters were the same age as me and they started getting more friendly and casual. I figured, hey..they're 20, I'm 20, we all know I'm not going home with an induction cooker at the end of the day, so time to work some magic! Lolll. They were ok... but, nahhhh. Hahah!
Bla bla bla, promote promote promote, then they gave me this voucher thing. You know like fortune cookies, you have to bite open to get your fortune. So yeah, I tore it open and I looked at it blankly and showed it to them. Friggin' hilarious, they took it from me and stared at it, BOTH saying "Yarabi... biar betol tok?" Hahahahahahhhhh. To cut the story short, apparently I won some promotion thing and there's supposed to be only two winners in Miri I think?. A free induction cooker and a pressure cooker costing almost RM4000. But then these things always have a catch. I get those things free if I buy something else from the promotion items with a RM100 discount...and everything on that item list cost over RM2000. I gave them the =.=" look, you see me student you think I wanna buy meh... lol. Gave my dad a call to see if he wanted it, he said to just let it go. So yeah.... all I got out of that experience was their age, what school they went to, found out that one of them knows a cousin of mine (Josh, the guy knows you) and whole dump load of information about induction cookers.
*shrugs* nyeh...

And reality hits....
There was a farewell dinner at my house tonight with my dad's side of the family. Sigh.. I never knew it would be this hard to say goodbye. My whole life, I never thought I would go to *jengjengjeng* Australia. Like, urgh right? Hahah! In fact, I never thought I'd do my degree outside of Malaysia. And here I am, just a week before flying to what would have been my most dreaded country if I had been asked this two years ago.
They were all saying their goodbyes, shaking hands, ladies would give me hugs, give me lui, give me advice. The best advice I heard tonight was from Aunty Pidang. I was sitting in the patio with the mums and the married. When someone goes off to another country like Aussie, they'll never fail to say "Jangan jangan nanti kamu bawa orang putih balik" and then they'd all burst into laughter even though that sentence is so cliche and overused. Lol. Then suddenly Aunty Pidang puts on a serious face and says to me, "No lah. No, no. I don't allow. I don't like you to bring back orang putih. Later susah mok cakap dengan dia". Sigh, true true. But not wrong to tengok-tengok scouting dolok.. right, aunty? Hahah. Then before she left, she came over to shake hands with me. She was real happy and all, telling me to look after myself, wishing me luck, bla bla... then put on that serious face again. "Remember what I said to you just now. Really.... don't bring back orang putih" Hah! Oh how I wish she was joking.......... =s
And Lydia! The sweet thing. She bought me a farewell gift but she was too shy to give it to me I think, so she passed to my sister to pass to me while I was 'slaving away' in the kitchen. So now, I have 2 new pairs of earings and a Kinder Joy to munch on =) I think I'm going to miss hearing her screams and shouts almost everyday at my house playing with my sister =))
I remember the last piece of advice my grandmother gave me back in Kuching. She told me, if I were to ever find a special someone over in Aus, I must tell her and bring him back to meet her. Then she launched her story of how she and my grandpa got together and eventually got married. Apparently, they were both from villages of opposite sides of a mountain. I thought of digging deeper and asking about the cheesy stuff but.. nah. Backed out in the end. Hahah. My grandpa said the same thing. Told me to bring my uni friends back to see the kampung, see how people live there. Ah! I'll miss them lots =(
I'll miss my family (both pets included), I'll miss using the beach way back home because the main road is too straight and boring, I'll miss the beautiful brown colour of the sea water, I'll miss the constant nagging ( or narcissistic drone as the great Leonard Hofstadter puts it lol ) from my parents hahah, I'll miss local food!! satayyyyy! noodle with beef tendon at 9to5, SOHO!, picking my sister up everyday from school and occasionally taking her out for ice cream after, picking and sending my brother to tuition, buying cheap pirated dvds, horrible Miri roads (they don't make sense) and much much more. sigh....
But it's not like I won't be back right? =)
Aussie better get ready.... >=)

Back
You know what... I think I'll just summarize what happened during the holidays.
First, there was that awesome-o discipleship camp at MEC. No pic. Haha.
Then, family and I went to Penang. Had good fun =)

My cousin Joy's wedding was the morning after we got back. And yeah, as usual, I kena contract play wedding march again. Always a pleasure though =)

We had a Silek clan reunion too! Was so cool. Too bad one uncle from Johor couldn't make it so no full head count =p

Justin, Michelle, Serena and I went for a roadtrip to Brunei for the sushi at Escapade. Had fun with the waiters too. Hahaha... Lol. A saying we came back with was "We can impact males!!" Looooooo.... Thanks Justin for the blanja. Next time blanja again! Wahaha..

And then there was the photoshoot!!! Man, was fun. The first for all of us so please excuse the skills. Models weren't very prepared either lol. Will be the next time around!!

Apart from that, there was Randy's birthday, hung out with Sam, Jan, Kiat, Greg and Jeremy, eating out every single day.. and yeah, one more photoshoot with Josh before he leaves next week.
So.. Merry belated Christmas and a Happy belated New Year to all =)

Monitor lizard crosses the road and dies.. meh
I ran over a biawakk!!!!!
I was driving to school with my dad the other day and we were going along the Miri-By pass road when this stupid stupid stupid biawak oh-so-slumberly slow went right in the middle of the road. I wanted to slow down, I tried. It just stood there like it mintak nahas or what. My goodness. Tidak nampak ka my car wanna ram you?? It avoided all the other cars when it crossed the road. Why stop infront of me?? Didn't you see the P sign???!! Argh... I know. I'm mad at a biawak. Who's more stupid. Me or him.....? Gosh... now it's a him. Bahh.
Anyway, I couldn't just stop there was like a string of cars behind me. Sigh, what to do la.
*geduk geduk*
My tyres ran over the poor thing. I looked back through the mirror. It was squirming and flipping around on the road. SIGH.. Who ask you stand infront of me?
Stupid biawak.... make me feel sad for what? Meh.
I know, this is yet again another one of my noob driving stories. Gosh, I really DO suck at driving =p

I've been up to quite a lot this week. My parents were out of town this weekend and I HAD THE CAR TO MYSELF!!!! Waahoo!
Friday night went out with my cousin Josh. Planned to hang at Coffee Bean but there wasn't any parking at Parkson, so we decided to scout around Miri for cocktails instead. Went to try out Siamese Secrets. A big nono. So we moved on to Mr Ho's Fine Foods. Sat at the bar area and I ordered a Midori Sour. Josh had a Seduction. Don't know why he didn't like it. Probably because of the Baileys. Nice ba... why he say taste like medicine. Heheh. But mine was nicer! =p

He looks weird there. Haha. I didn't know there was alcohol in there and I had to drive back. I know I sound like so noob, cmon me new driver ok. Ehehe.. Yeah anyway, I was scared to drive back considering my totally lame history of getting drunk on half a tin of Shandy. Gosh.. I'm so lame. But anyhoo.. we got home safe and sound ptl hahah=)))
Then there was EYM the following night where I had to pick Joy up. So after the usual traditional supper after EYM, we went over to Coffee Bean to meet up with Brad, Luffy and Jin Kiat.

THEN, was back to college on Monday. Went to the toilet. And...

These gross things almost got me locked in the cubicle. Like seriously, I start to wonder how many times the cleaner cleans the toilet PROPERLY. I mean, the last time I saw her 'cleaning', she just sprayed the cubicles with a hose. Like that's going to work. Please la. That second one has been there for WEEKS and I know, stop yapping and do something about it if you don't like it right? But yeah, I don't like roaches so I didn't get rid of it.
Yup.

EYM Cook-out '08

Despite cooking in an open field for two hours under the sizzling sun (literally!) which gave me a splitting headache, a terrible tan and bruises and burns after.. IT WAS FUN! My group members are so awesome; we really pulled our dishes off from absolutely zero to something that looked edible! Hahah. Forgot to take a picture of it.. ah well. We didn't do so bad.
Our menu:
i) Sweet corn and egg soup (my group's was a total disaster!! Hahah)
ii) Salad
iii) Sweet and sour fish
iv) Curry chicken (our signature dish =)) I forgot to put salt!!! Argh)
There was also a mystery dish, or more like a mystery ingredient which was only given to us on the day itself. We got hotdogs. In my head I was like.. "Whut? Such a cute mystery dish?" Hah! So we just went and fried it. In the end, we got fourth place. Just 0.2 marks to third place! Haiyaa.. Heheh. But anyway, we had good fun.
Jess was holding the camera today so this is her group's food

The 6 group leaders, Michelle, myself, Cheryl, Gavin, Allan and Jasper =)

And congrats to Allan's group who got 3rd
I don't feel like congratulating Michelle but SIGHH here goes... congrats on 2nd place Michelle... *rolls eyes*
Hahah. Nola. Kidding Marsh. Congrats and cute salad =)

And, 1st place to Jasper's group! Dude, ur salad is awesomeeeeee. Lovin' the lemon!

But I thought he's older?
Lya and I were sitting on the sofa about 11pm after doing her reading homework and we were talking about the different stages of education there were. Like you know, after tadika, there's primary school then high school, college then university. I explained to her that I was in college and how many more years it would take for her to be in college.
She started with the manjak-ness, squeeky voice and all..
Lya: You'll be going to university next year *sad face boohoohoo*
Me: Yup. But nevermind. You got Kenaidy ba
Lya: Kenaidy? But I thought he's older than you? He go to university la...
I was like.......
!!!!!!!WHAT!!!!!!!GOBSMACKED!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes she's five but she's been living with me all this time and didn't know I was the eldest among us. Cmon!!
So, yeah I was going "WHAT???" in my head for a while, then I started thinking.
Well, at this age I'm quite impressed she's that rational. I mean..

This Week
YAY I'M 18!!!!
I feel so legal =)))))
SO! my family took me out for dinner at Marriott on the eve of my birthday because my mum was to go to Kuching the following day. It was funny, my mum was babbling all the way there about the buffet being RM30 plus and all. By the time we got there, just when ordering, the lady told us it was actually RM75 *tweennng*
I had my first taste of Shirley Temple
It looks disgusting here but these babies were AWESOME
You know in the first High School Musical movie where this baker-basketball player sang about baking creme brulee and stuff? Yeah, I never knew what it was til that night. Hah. It's the yellowish looking thing.
And Jess enjoyed her emo shots *cough cough shoes cough*
After dinner, we went up to hang out at the lobby...
...where I got my sister pissed at me
The boy in the back *sigh*
And we called it a night =)
~~~
1st Sepetember, the retard family came over (missing Bubek and Alien) supposedly to pen some stuff down. Who knew they came to surprise me with..
...the cutest cake ever =)
and prezies! (which I adore by the way. Thanks gurls!)
Had fun writting in the sand too! >=) I would've posted a picture but I believe in confidentiality and keeping the peace... for now... Ahaha.
So conclusion, it's been a fun week for me
=)
Oh! Oh! I got my P licence!
And! And! I know the menu for the EYM cookout on 13th Sept!
